At the Coogee Aquarium in 1935, a tiger shark vomited up a tattooed, human arm in front a stunned holiday weekend crowd.

The shark had been caught just a day earlier, but when experts examined the tattooed arm they found it had been carefully cut using knives, not bitten with teeth.

The arm was cut from a murdered victim and the shark had swallowed it whole.

The arm was key evidence in one of Australia’s most unusual murder mysteries, known as the “Shark Arm Murder.”
